The rotation...

"The rotation of an image is a very strange thing indeed. A picture, perhaps upside down or sideways can seem magnificent, beautiful, interesesting or consuming. However, often when this seemingly majestic image is restored to its correct rotation, the rotation at which it was intended to be seen, it can appear abhorrent, ugly, dull or repulsive. Out of these words only one is what a picture, image or photograph should never be and that is dull. Insted of this, make an image magnificently ugly, consumingly dull, interestingly abhorrent or repulsively beautiful. That is what makes a photograph, not beauty, not conformity, but the power of thought. Always remember that the rotation at which a picture is taken is the roation at which it began, a rotation is a journey and lie."

A thistle..

Here are some photos I took of a thistle whilst on the hunt for derelict houses for my art project. They aren't that brilliant as I was bloody scared at the time, derelict houses are really frightening, especially ones that have been set alight :S. Anyway, the thistle, it was beautiful, I could have spent all day taking pictures of it, but I had to hunt for yet more creepy derelict houses. However that in itself was very interesting and I'm considering putting up some of the pictures from my derelict house-hunting excursions, it's always fun to explore! But, back to the thistle-I've played around with the contrast saturation etc...Similar editing to the pictures of the Sacré Coeur and The Eiffel Tower.

A few images..

I recently found these pictures which i had taken in Paris in February. I've edited them a bit i think they look quite interesting.I love how each picture looks like it could be taken on a completely different day or even a different time, even though theres only two pictures.

BBC Blast Fashion Photography

Last Saturday, i headed up to London for a fashion photography workshop. It was a bit of a feat as the Thames festival was well underway. Our workshop was taken by a really succesful photographer who's pictures are brilliant! There was a modelling workshop happening at the same time, so we worked with the girls who were doing that, taking pictures of them practising poses, perfecting hair and makeup and at their catwalk show. We also got to go off into the crowds of people at the festival and take pictures of everything that was going on. I learnt so much about taking photographs which i'm attempting to apply to every picture which i take from now on. I also got to use a DSLR for the whole day, which just made me want one even more! I had a brilliant time and spending a whole day snapping made me realise just how much i love photography.
Here are some of the pictures i took, they aren't that fabulous but I was trying something new.
The girl in the green was a cow.
A bit edited.

This Guy wasnt on the modelling workshop, he was a street entertainer.

La photographie de mode

Next Saturday, i'm going to a fashion photography workshop at the National Theatre organised by the BBC.

I just can't wait, i'm going to be so bad at it, but i'm just going to try to have fun. I'm really looking forward to trying out fashion photography for real, as i've only had the chance to have a go at mostly portraiture, natural form and landscape, so it will be brilliant to try something new.

As part of the workshop we will get to photograph a catwalk show, preformed by the modelling workshop students, on South Bank, i'm really looking forward to it. It sounds like it's going to be a brilliant day, and i hope it's as good as i think it will be!

Also hopefully i should get to meet up with Abbie, if she gets a break from Nicole Fahri, as she has landed herself some amazing work experience at London Fashion week and will be working that day.

The National Theatre- just so excited!

Hellas

Just over a week and a half ago, i returned to this watering can we call a country, from the hot and very beautiful Greece. Depressed i am, that this weather is so bad, so i'm going to do a bit of lovely holiday reminiscence (pardon my spelling), with a few of the pictures i took whilst i was there.

Mon soeur

Meine schwester, mijn zuster, 我的姐妹, η αδελφή μου, la mia sorella, 私の姉妹, minha irmã, моя сестра, mi hermana, my sister...

She helps me with my photography whenever i ask, gives me the best advice, and often makes me loads of clothes, shes always fun and thanks to her extremely accurate trend predictions, we always know what's in next season.

Here are some photographs i have taken with her, which, i'm sure you'll agree, she's brilliant in.
Thankyou so much, love you lots and I'll miss you when you've gone.
